Pris: 79:- Beställningsnummer: 79656 Druvor: 50% Xarel-lo, 35% Macabeu, 15% Parellada Lagring: >12månader Dosage: 12 gr/liter

Pris: 240:- Beställningsnummer: 79533 Druvor:  38% Xarel.lo, 17% Parellada, 17% Macabeo 13% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir Lagring: >50 månader Dosage: 8 gr/liter

We are running very low on cava...

The problem with loving cava in Sweden, is that the diversity available is not what it should...Luckily we have a friend in Denmark, who imports some really great cavas, but unfortunately we have been bit short on time to go visit and stock up, due to the children. Yes I blame the children. ;-)

But for you living in Denmark or who happens to be close to Århus, I can very much recommend to check out Lars website! http://www.vildmedcava.com

Among other houses he has available you will find: -Bertha -Castel d'Age -Torelló -Muscándia -Jaume Giró i Giró -Castel Sant Antoni

Bottles that will keep you going until spring comes!

Do you like me long for Spring?I hate this cold, snow, ice and gloomy weather, so much that I have become totally addicted to tulips! Maybe because I can't enjoy bubbles in the same way as before due to a growing belly. But I thouht I'd give you all some tips regarding nice bottles that might help you brighten up that gray winter day! All these bottles are also avalible at the swedish monopoly, for all you poor people that share my unfortunate situation of beeing stuck here in the snow.

IMG_1030.JPGBombonetta by Jaume Giró i Giró, This bottle is one of my long time favourites from the winemaker Ramón. It is a brut Gran Reserva aged for a minimum of 40 months. Grapes: 38% Xarel.lo, 17% Parellada, 17 % Macabeu 15% Pinot Noir and 13% Chardonnay. Wonderful fresh stye with flowers, nuts and baked goods in the nose. Great soft bubbles. At the monopoly in Sweden you can now buy this bottle for 229 SEK, which is a GREAT price! (Special ordering segment nr: 77591) A real "must buy"!

de nitDe Nit by Raventós i Blanc, This sparkling wine (Raventós left DO Cava in 2012) gives me real spring feelings! It is a very pale rosé, that is super crisp and elegnat. I LOVE it! It is an extra brut Reserva aged for a minimum of 18th months. Grapes: 42% macabeu, 37% xarel-lo, 14% parellada and 7% monastrell. Super fresh with its white grape base, but with a rich fruity pallet that really makes you think of spring. And nothing makes you long for summer as a rosé! Can be bought at the monopoly for 169 SEK. (Special ordering segment nr: 77423)

OliviaOlivia by Castell D'Age If you are looking for something ecologic this cava is a great spring choise. It is actually aged in oak, which gives a little touch that I like. It is a Reserva brut nature, so no added sugar. Grapes: 100% chardonnay. This cava is my clear favourit from this house. It is fruity, with clear notes of bread from the ageing but those subtil oak notes realy make it that extra special. It can be bought at the monopoly for 171 SEK. (Special ordering segment nr: 77169)

These are my three tips for right now! Hope you like them!

Bubbly hugs!!

The book is on the way to print!

My goodness!Even though it was less than two years ago we did the first book I had forgotten how much back and forth mailing it was at the end. Now the second book is finally ready it seems, and is sent to print. We are so excited both me and Andréas. Especially about the fact that we have been able to write about the things we love about Barcelona and Penedès.

We have also had the great opportunity to present 19 producers, and we hope that this will make consumers in Sweden more interested in the area, cavas and the people who make them.

As always we have tried to be as personal as possible. :-)

I cant give you the entire inside of the book but this below is the intro to the chapter about the producers. I'll let you know when it is available in the stores.

Sunny and bubbly regards!

Another year has passed

It is amazing how fast a year can pass. On the 13th of December we had some friends over for dinner and the subject of 2013 came up. We could all agree that it has passed by us while we have been thinking about other things. Well maybe not entirely true, because we have been extremely busy as usual, but somehow we now stand here at the end of the year and remember very little of what we have actually done. So I thought I’d share some pictures with you so you can see what we have been up to, and maybe some pieces of the puzzle will fall in the right places for me too, memory  wise.

And I also want to take the opportunity to wish you all a very happy New Year’s Eve and a marvelous 2014!

Jaume Giró i Giró, and our friend Ramón

tunnan027In the centre of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia very close to the chocolate "factory" Simón Coll, Ramón has his cellar, and beautiful "bbq-gareden". A garden that everybody can enjoy for just a symbolic sum and a bottle of cava.We first visited Ramón in May last year, together with our friends Kajsa and Martin. You can read about it here if you want. Among other things Andreas then got to disgorge his first bottle of Cava and immediately offered to start to work at Giró i Giró as a disgorger.

But this time we were back to take pictures and ask Ramón questions since we want to present him as one of the producers in our new book. A lot of photos later we had the great pleasure to refresh our memories when it comes to the portfolio. Some of the cavas, like the Bombonetta we know well, since we brought quite a lot of them back in May when we had the car whit us. And together with our friends we have been enjoying them all through the year, but not our cellar is empty and badly needs to be refilled!

grandalla032Ramón makes wonderful Cava, that is fresh, fruity and soft in the mousse, and even though he makes almost only reserva and gran reserva they still have a clear vitality. Almost like an older person that looks and feels very young, but where you can see the life experience shining through with all its depth and complexity that life gives you on your journey. All poetics aside, lets just say that we like them very much!

The two cavas named Grandalla are both very special, and this time we get the story behind the two. Grandalla is the local name name of the flower narcissus poeticus, that grows in Andorra, and Ramón originally tried to make these cavas to resemble the character of the narcissus. But now they have come to have their own style. Last time I tried them I named the Grandalla "silver" my favourite, but this time with he new vintages I must say that the Grandalla deluxa (gold with swarovski stones) had me captured!

enboll031As always we had a fantastic time visiting Ramón, and we can really recommend you to contact Ramón and his team if you plan to go to Sant Sadurní or just make a short trip if you go to Barcelona. It is all very easy. Just write to them some days before, so that they are not in the middle of labelling, or disgorging or anything like that, because they are a very small winery and everyone helps with everything.

Contact details: http://www.cavagiro.com/en

Thank you so much to Ramón and the team for having us once again. It is always lovely to see you, and see you soon at Cavatast!

Today visit, tasting and lunch at Jaume Giro i Giro

1st of May and the sun is shining from a blue sky. A perfect day to learn more about a great Cava house, eat great BBQ, taste lovely Cava and make new friends. We could really not have had a better start of our week! Ramon, head of the house, took time of his busy schedule to show us around and had a great and very thorough tasting of his great selection of Cavas.  My wonderful friend Rosó from Institut Del Cava and her fantastic husband was also with us and made the afternoon a great one.

My lovely husband also got the chance to disgorge a bottle of Cava, which he did perfectly, after a careful explanation from Ramon. And later we also had the chance to try the cava with the BBQ. A well done job I must say on both the winemaking and the disgorgement. :-)

An other great thing, apart form the lovely Cavas of course was the very smart temperature indicator that Ramon has started to ad on his back labels, so you know when the Cava is ready to drink. Very smart indeed!

I just love to sit and talk about Cava, taste different styles and just relax among friends. So I thought I'd share some pictures with you, since a picture says more than a thousand words. And I also want to recommend you to visit Ramon and his house Giro i Giro next time you are in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia.

And keep a look out, because Ramon will send me some history of the house so you will get some more background!
