Last week at this time we checked in at Hotel Omm

Picture from Omms website; www.hotelomm.es Hotel Omm is a well known five star in Barcelona. From Placa Catalunya , it takes seven to eight minutes to walk up along the Passeig de Gracia, a nice that takes you passed Gaudis La Pedrera. Just pass the spectacular house and then turn right , and you will have the entrance to Omm almost on your immediate left . The tourist buses " hop on hop off" is just outside the door (not really ..).

Omm just celebrated ten years last weekend when we were there, which meant live music and cava in the lobby from lunch and all in to the evening.

Inside the foyer is their restaurant, Roca Moo, with a Michelin star. It is run in partnership with the Roca brothers who also runs El Cellar de Can Roca, who in 2013 was named the world's best restaurant.

Omm has everything you could ever possibly need (which is the idea of a five star hotel ) . Pool, spa, gym and even a hairdresser. Good wifi, which made us very happy indeed.

Roof terrace with views of La perdreras roof + bar and outdoor pool is all amazing. Unfortunately a bit too cold when we visited last weekend. But during the warmer period of the year the terrace is full of live and live music.

If you visit the SPA you should try the lemon and ginger drink while bubbling away, it is really refreshing and good for you I'm sure. The SPA has a lovely bubble pool, a steam sauna and a very nice shower "trail" that you can walk through and get splashed with different temperatures. Quite refreshing. And one thing that I really really REALLY loved was their bathrobes. I'm not kidding! It was the most comfortable robe I have ever had on! Unfortunately I could not buy one when I left because they did not have enough, but I have not given up the quest to one day be able to buy a robe from Omm.

The breakfast is very nice indeed, very luxurious. Everything is home made and baked, and seriously delicious. Personally I LOVED the goats yoghurt. And maybe the most important, CAVA on the buffet table! ( and pancakes)

Over all Omm is a great hotel that we like very much! It has wonderful atmosphere, welcoming staff, that have a large dose of humour too, which we really appreciated. You feel right at home and they help you with anything you need with a relaxed and friendly approach. Looking among the guests at Omm in the lobby, everyone seems very relaxed and happy, which must be a good thing.

We want to thank everyone at Hotel Omm for making our stay last weekend such a nice one, and we hope to see you all soon again!

Last weekend in BCN

This is the last weekend of research for the new cava book. So far so good. We have stayed at Hotel Pulitzer and now at Hotel Omm. All great stays that we will write about separately so that you will get a sneak preview and don’t have to wait for the book to find out what we like about them.

We have of course already been to visit our favourite place El Quim, to have lunch and to give Quim a copy of the Swedish book and also tell him about our new plans. Quim has himself been very busy indeed lately and written a book about his amazing restaurant in the Boqueria, and he has also opened a new restaurant in Hong Kong!

One thing we love about having lunch at El Quim is that you always meet so many nice people and this time we met two guys from Paris, who were visiting Barcelona for the first time. They had no idea what cava was, so we told them a little bit and Quim treated them to a glass of Juvé y Camps cinta purpura each, which they both liked very much.

Happy day!
