Two weeks ago I was visiting the isle of Gotland, on account of my work. (Gotland is the large island on the south east coast of Sweden.)And in the small village of Ljugarn I heard bout a tapas and cava restaurant. You must understand my amazement as I drove according to the directions I was given to find the place. A tapas and cava bar here... in a small village with mostly summer residents, and we don't even have one in Uppsala where I live, where we are over 200 000 people!
I had no trouble finding the place, and was so lucky as to catch them as they were getting ready to open for the night. Pighuset seems to be a very nice place indeed, run by four friends who loves Barcelona and everything about it. They have lots of tapas to choose from and a cava selection that is growing. But you can have a Kripta if you like, and also some other labels of the family Agustí Torelló Mata's portfolio, which I was happy to see. Unfortunately I could not stay and have dinner since I had to catch a plane home.
If you are ever on Gotland, I would suggest that you take a detour from Visby, 45 minutes to the other side of the island and visit Pighuset. I'm sure that the gang will take perfect care of you.
Now I'm only waiting for someone to open a tapas and Cava bar in Uppsala so I have somewhere closer to go. Maybe the guys can open a "Pighuset Uppsala", that would be nice!
If you want to find out more about Pighuset you will find them on Facebook here.
