Today my husband will come home after being away working for two weeks. This marks the end of sandwiches and porridge for dinner! I just don't eat real food when I'm alone, basically because it boors me. So the only time I have eaten something nutritious during these two weeks has been when someone invited me for dinner. Lucky for me I have nice and kind friends and a wonderful family that does take care of me. But now there's will be a stop to this and I will make up for a two-week cooking shortage! Since we are soon off to Barcelona, I thought it might be nice with a little "boosting before the trip" now that we have the first chance to talk through the journey and do some planning.
The dear husband hinted that he was longing for some good red wine, so the cava has to go with the starter. I have therefore designed the following menu this Wednesday.
Starter: Segura Viuda, Reserva Heredad, with some Catalan tapas, ham, Manchego cheese, mixed olives and salsichón.
Main course: Amarone Classico, limosine tenderloin with roasted beets and chèvre with honey and a little bacon and chanterelles.
Dessert: Pomme de tarte, (thinly sliced apples in puff pastry with moskavado sugar). Easy and very tasty!
Welcome home, darling!
